Storytelling Through The Seasons: Spring (Sustainer)

Storytelling Through The Seasons: Spring (Sustainer)

$200.00

Join us for the return of the Storytelling Through The Seasons: Spring Cohort. In this group, we will focused on The Art Of Visual Storytelling.

Session One| Saturday, April 26th 9:00-10:15 am est

Who: Led by storyteller, author, and writer LaTonya Yvette, with guest Christy DeGallerie, a multidisciplinary artist and guest lecturer.

In this class, we'll use the site of memory as a resource for our writing. We’ll explore how imagery has historically told stories in the absence of language—and how, in a time of “banned words” or when language escapes us, prose can serve as a tool to paint vivid, sensory pictures. Through lecture, readings, and guided prompts, we’ll use personal recollection as a way to expand imagination and generate creative work in various forms.

Session Two | Saturday, May 3rd 9:00-10:15 am est

This class explores space—on the page, in public memory, and on land. Using prompts that evoke our connection to these themes, we’ll craft work that lives at the intersection of policy and the personal: what it means to mother, mourn, and make meaning when everything around us feels like it’s being stripped away.

What You Need: A pencil, paper, 75 minutes of uninterrupted time, an open ear to ground or close in meditation, and a desire to learn, grow and be in community. A reading list will be sent out 48 hours prior to the workshop.

Guests who cannot attend the live session will receive a recording, plus all materials, and will also be part of our Watsapp group where we will continue to share our work and discuss the class.

About Me: I’m an author, writer, community builder, and storyteller with over a decade of experience. My bestselling debut, Woman Of Color, was featured in Jay-Z’s personal library at the Brooklyn Public Library’s HOV exhibit and is used as a teaching tool across the U.S. My second book, The Hair Book, is a children’s title now in its second printing, and my latest, Stand In My Window, pairs celebrated prose with original film photography. Since 2020, I’ve led impactful writing workshops, guest lectured at Pratt Institute, and supported leaders and brands through ghostwriting, book proposals, and storytelling rooted in care and culture.

In this workshop, we do real work. We do community.

“The course changed my life!  I know that sounds a bit dramatic, but it really has shifted my perspective and reignited a creative practice which feels so needed 9 months after giving birth.  Feels like a new birth :)  Thanks again.” - NW
